LE Precision Rifle

Law Enforcement Precision Rifle

The precision rifle is one of the most important law enforcement firearms used today. Properly deployed it becomes an effective tool for the law enforcement marksman. With proper application and tactics the rifle is the firearm of choice of the professional. This 48-hour course is designed to provide the necessary rifle and tactical skills for Sniper/Observer teams to function in support of high-risk operations. This intense five-day course is designed for law enforcement rifleman. You must be a full time peace officer in good physical condition. Prior knowledge of rifles is highly desired, but not required. The class is limited to 20 students on a first come, first serve basis and fills quickly.

  • Purpose of the precision rifle in Law Enforcement
  • Rifle and Ammunition selection
  • Necessary equipment
  • Weapon handling, carrying and firing positions
  • Malfunction clearing drills
  • Range estimation
  • Effects of wind and weather on trajectory
  • Shooting up/down hill
  • Moving targets
  • Use of cover and concealment
  • Low light operations
  • Shooting through glass
  • Hostage Rescue
  • Scouting and reporting procedures
  • Weapon maintenance
  • Rifle data book
  • Legal/moral/liability considerations
  • Known range firing drills from: 25 to 600 yards
  • Unknown range firing drills from: 100 to 600 yards
  • Two man team (rifleman/scout) stalking exercises
